8th November – Wednesday
We are reluctant to leave Geelong, as we quite like it here, but we have to go so pack up and head to Belmont to check out some op-shops. We find a few small treasures and then hit the road, heading through Melbourne on the M1, which eventually takes us through the longest tunnel any of us have ever been through. I had to fight off a feeling of claustrophobia that was coming over me, and you could smell the exhaust fumes that had nowhere else to go. We were relieved to exit it and head away from the crazy busyness of Melbourne. $17 for the pleasure of driving through there – thanks Melbourne. We headed towards Sale and ended up stopping at a free stop at Lake Wellington near Perry Bridge. It’s a bit windy and quite cool, but it’s nice never the less to camp right beside this huge lake.
